Videocall adds HP managed telepresence

London service provider becomes first HP Visual Collaboration reseller

HP has selected video services company Videocall as the first European service provider to offer HP Visual Collaboration videoconferencing to customers.

Rob Portwood, chief executive officer of Videocall, said customers are increasingly looking for seamless, reliable video services over different networks in multiple locations.

"HP Visual Collaboration is the emerging leader in this new kind of video conferencing," said Portwood.

The company will provide video conferencing via the cloud as a fully managed service from the second half of 2011. According to Portwood, this should make it easier and relatively cost-effective for multiple user groups to access.

Rob Scott, vice president and general manager for visual collaboration at HP, said the offering used scalable video coding (SVC) that allows HD video conferencing with low latency on enterprise networks, home broadband or mobile 3G.

"Clients do not require a network upgrade or other costly hardware investments," said Scott.
