Royal wedding rollout for React Technologies
Wireless VAR installs Motorola gear at Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace
Wireless specialist React Technologies conducted a right royal rollout of Motorola technology during Prince William and Kate Middleton's marriage last week.
The Basingstoke-based VAR was tasked with installing a high-speed, ultra-secure wireless broadband infrastructure at various London locations, including the Mall, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace. The technology was needed to enable photographers to upload snaps in real time over the public internet.
This meant journalists did not have to distribute photographs using runners and memory hardware, or using 3G data connections. React won the contract with its bid to install Motorola's outdoor wireless technology, coupled with MIMO antennas from Terrawave.
React managing director Jess Thompson-Hughes said Thomson Reuters had approached Motorola looking for a partner with expertise in deploying applications over wireless.
"The whole idea was to try to steal a march on the competition who were using runners," he said. "We were introduced to Reuters through Motorola."
