Sysec locks down shared services deal

VAR provides identity and access management solution for Cheshire East and Cheshire West & Chester Councils

Security VAR Sysec has been selected to provide an identity and access management solution for two local councils engaged in a shared service unified communications (UC) project.

Cheshire East and Cheshire West & Chester Councils, which represent more than 600,000 citizens between them, are deploying a Microsoft Lync Server for UC and collaboration.

The new platform needed to meet the councils' security policies by restricting access to the system to fully authorised and authenticated users. Sysec will fulfil this part of the deal by providing a security solution based on Microsoft Public Key Infrastructure.

Richard Styles, project delivery manager at Cheshire Shared Services, said: "Sysec provided the security expertise to ensure that only fully authenticated users can access the system and they demonstrated agility and speed in designing and deploying an effective security solution which met our timescales."

Cris Pikes, chief executive of Sysec, added: "Cheshire East and Cheshire West & Chester Councils are leading examples of local authorities that are using innovative IT to reduce the cost and improve the productivity of their operations without compromising security.

"Sysec is able to support the councils in achieving their objectives using the combination of our security technology expertise and our agile professional services."
