Trustmarque acquires Nimbus for cloud push

Microsoft LAR diversifies further from its roots with cloud services purchase

Trustmarque has followed through on its pledge to acquire in the cloud space by grabbing start-up Nimbus Technology Systems.

Founded in 2008, Hertfordshire-based Nimbus has 10 staff and a small but growing base of mid-market clients in the financial, legal, services and medical sectors.

Trustmarque will use the acquisition to bolster the range of hosted and managed solutions that sit within its Enterprise Solutions Group (TESG) division.

Angelo Di Ventura, group marketing and sales director at Trustmarque, said the VAR had examined several targets before settling on Nimbus.

He told ChannelWeb: "This is the perfect strategic acquisition for us. It will not add EBITDA to the bottom line immediately, but it accelerates and broadens our expertise and gives us immediate access to proven and reliable cloud-based services.

"Its revenues are not massive but most of these cloud-based organisations aren't. What we are acquiring is annuity income and very sticky customers," he added.

Trustmarque promised Nimbus will be the first in a planned series of acquisitions to help the VAR move further from its roots in software licence reselling.

Simon Rutt joined Trustmarque last April and before that helped Nimbus develop its proposition. He will now head up the TESG division.

Rutt said: "This is part of a strategic plan for us to be a true, trusted adviser to the customer, whether they want to deploy technology on or off premises."
