Wyse adds SDG as fourth UK distributor

SDG says addition of thin-client vendor turns it into VDI one-stop shop

Thin-client vendor Wyse has added SDG to its UK distribution line-up in a move designed to extend its coverage of the virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) market.

The partnership, which also covers France and North Africa, will be spearheaded by SDG's specialist IBM and Lenovo arm, ISI.

Wyse works with three other distributors in Avnet Technology Solutions, Arrow ECS and thin-client specialist Getech.

SDG also distributes VMware, Citrix, Symantec and IBM and argued that the addition of Wyse to its portfolio would transform it into a single-source provider of VDI solutions.

Mark Jordan, vice president EMEA at Wyse Technology, said cloud computing is gaining traction as more end users plump for desktop virtualisation.

"Our new agreement with SDG enables Wyse to grow its channel operations in response to this fast-expanding market through SDG's large European partner network, impressive distribution capabilities and strong focus on helping clients virtualise IT infrastructure successfully," he added.

Guy Watts, sales director at Getech, said it was a "natural progression" for Wyse to appoint a fourth distributor.

"While no-one likes another distributor encroaching on their market, the market is growing to such an extent that it won't have a huge impact on the levels of business we do," he said. "There are a number of value-add services Getech offers that none of the other three do."
