Midwich announces audio foray

Audio and public address system division to dig deeper into pro-AV opportunity

Midwich has created a dedicated audio and public-address technology division targeting professional-level customers.

Lee Baker, business manager for Midwich, said the move would strengthen its audiovisual and consumer electronics offerings, supplementing its current displays and projectors.

"The launch of this new professional audio division will position Midwich as the distributor of choice for resellers and integrators that undertake project-based work in key verticals such as education, leisure, hospitality, security and the corporate market," he said.

The division, which boasts seven specialist pro-audio sales staff, will offer resellers a range of public address, conference, voice alarm systems, evacuation systems, background music and paging systems, commercial amplifiers, microphones, system controllers, call stations and loudspeakers.

Baker added that the new division will balance the audio and visual aspects of the distributor's audiovisual business. Midwich would promise its customers "immediate access" to top brands and specialist technical expertise.

Pro-audio brands that have been signed so far include AKG, Bosch, BSS, Cloud, Crown, DBX, Denon, JBL, Marantz, Mission, Penn Elcom, Signet, Soundcraft, Surgex, TEAC, TOA, Trantec and Wharfedale. Others are being sought.

Lee Hooker, sales manager at Midwich, said: "This really is tremendous news for our customers."

The announcement follows one around its expansion to include video conferencing.
