Anti-virus price comparison site targets channel
Renewal Buddy launches with claims of big savings as it hunts for UK resellers
A price comparison web site targeted squarely at the anti-virus market claims it can routinely save customers 80 per cent on their software renewals and is looking to get reĀsellers involved.
Renewal Buddy was launched earlier this year by security vendor veterans Graham O'Reilly and Matt Baker.
"Consumers get a strong deal when they first get the software, but when they renew, they pay full price," said O'Reilly. "It is a bit unfair that the consumer should be penalised for being a loyal customer."
The site is primarily focused on helping consumers save money when renewing existing licences, but will also offer guidance to those considering a change of product. It is currently serving the consumer market, but O'Reilly told CRN that moves are afoot to branch out into the SMB arena.
Renewal Buddy now wants to get security reĀsellers to list on the site and is offering a pay-per-click advertising package.
"We set it up with people purchasing direct from us because we wanted to build up traffic, but we want to become a marketplace," said O'Reilly.
