Ingram slams components rumour

Distribution giant sets record straight after rumours circulate it is closing its UK components division

Ingram has quashed rumours that it is closing down its UK components division.

The channel rumour mill had started to go into overdrive, but the distribution giant has firmly stated its components division is staying put and is in fact set to grow.

Stewart Hayward, marketing manager at Ingram, confirmed the five-strong components sales team had lost one of its business managers this week, but said it was looking for a replacement.

“We are not changing the staffing levels or the business management of the components team,” he said. “We increased the number of business managers in Q1 from four to five. One person has left this week having handed his notice in a month ago and we’ve been actively recruiting a replacement.”

He added the distributor is actually expanding its team, intending to add a ‘couple’ of SMB-focused sales specialists around components.
