Insight hires Buying Solutions man for public sector push
Former DSGi and Macwarehouse man Jon Lang fills vacancy left by Jamie Burke's recent departure
Insight has recruited a new head of public sector as it looks to further increase its share in the space.
Jon Lang (pictured) is set to join the firm next week after a long career in both the reseller community where he headed up DSGi's public sector business between 2001 and 2007, and ran Macwarehouse for two years, and more recently as a consultant and business development director for Buying Solutions.
Lang, who will report to vice president of Northern Europe Emma de Souza, fills a vacancy left by Jamie Burke, who joined rival VAR Softcat last month.
Stuart Fenton, EMEA president of Insight, said he was pleased to have Jon on the team.
"We are delighted Jon is joining us to run the public sector team. He has many years' experience of running a public sector sales team – but more importantly he has an in-depth knowledge of the industry and government contracts, and is intimately aware of the changes that the government is likely to put through over the next 18 to 24 months.
"We are continuing to grow our public sector business and we know Jon will bring a greater level of experience and leadership than we have had previously," he added.
Lang told CRN he was excited to be joining Insight.
"I think Insight is looking to expand its public sector business and offerings and I think it is a very good time to be joining them. I understand both sides of the fence – I understand how resellers work and also how the public sector side works. Insight is a significant player in the market and is one of the fastest-growing resellers in the UK."
