Daisy heads north of the border for growth

Acquisitive VAR announces new office and hires as part of Scottish growth strategy

Daisy Group is capitalising on its buyout of rival buy-and-build player SpiriTel to fuel the company's growth in Scotland.

SpiriTel, which owned Scotland-based telecoms provider Nessco, was acquired by Daisy last November.

Through the deal, Daisy gained 4,500 business accounts and a team of seven employees based north of the border.

Since then, the firm has grown its newly acquired Scottish foothold by recruiting 15 new staff and opened an office in Strathclyde to accommodate them all.

Speaking to ChannelWeb, Gareth Kirkwood, chief operating officer at Daisy, said: "Our Scottish workforce has trebled since the SpiriTel acquisition, and we have not ruled out hiring more.

"We are not averse to making strategic acquisitions to accelerate our growth, but the main focus will be on growing the business organically," he added.

The firm poached Graham Roger, former head of business development at comms provider Thus, to head up its Scottish operations back in February.

"The main thing we want to do, from a growth perspective, is maintain the customer relationships we already have and cross-sell into those with other offerings from the Daisy portfolio," said Roger.
