Kroll Ontrack toasts partner programme success

Data recovery service provider claims 500 partners have signed up to its rejigged channel programme

Data recovery software vendor Kroll Ontrack claims to have signed up 500 VARs to its recently overhauled partner programme.

The firm specialises in data retrieval products and services aimed at both business users and consumers.

In February, the vendor's partner programme underwent its first major revamp in 15 years, with the introduction of new education, marketing and discount initiatives.

Speaking to ChannelWeb, Phil Bridge, managing director of Kroll Ontrack UK, said the changes made were long overdue.

"Our product portfolio has broadened, our customer mix has changed and we needed a programme that reflected that," he said. "It is not enough just to point customers in the right direction any more. Partners need to find ways to add value on top of that."

The firm claims that 500 VARs have joined the programme since its relaunch, including many existing ones who have migrated from the previous version.

"This is just the start and if we find we have a gap in our [geographical] coverage, we will be recruiting for new partners to fill it," he added.

Existing partners that are not ready to move to the new programme will not have the rug pulled out from under them, promised Bridge.

"Most of our support is being given to our new programme, because that is where we see the most value, but we will continue the old for as long as there is demand for it," he added.
