Imago seals Chinese deal on Vidyo
Video communications distributor shows further Eastern promise
The UK's Imago Group has signed an agreement to distribute the videoconferencing kit of US vendor Vidyo in the rapidly expanding Chinese market.
William Yu, vice president of Asia-Pacific and Japan for Vidyo (pictured in China, above right), said: "Imago is a key player for Vidyo in the videoconferencing market in Europe and we are pleased that it has chosen to distribute our complete line of award-winning products in China."
Yu said businesses are looking to upgrade their video systems to ones that are higher quality, more affordable and also more flexible – which he claimed Vidyo products could deliver.
Peter Nice, head of new business at Imago (pictured, above left), said Vidyo's offering enables HD videoconferencing over standard internet connections and a standard PC.
"The systems remove the need for a videoconferencing bridge, simply using a video router instead. As well as huge cost savings, this means that latency is reduced and the systems are much faster and easier to use," he added.
Imago began distributing in China in 2009, where it has signed up local staff with strong technical skills and experience in negotiating Chinese contracts, as well as a network of about 80 resellers.
The distributor also operates in France, and has established subsidiaries in Belgium, Holland, South Africa and Spain.
