Peter Ryan bags HP ESSN top job

Former Sun and IBM man to lead infrastructure unit across EMEA

Former IBM and Sun executive Peter Ryan is to head up HP's Enterprise Servers, Storage and Networking (ESSN) business unit across the EMEA region.

Ryan (pictured) joins from IT services and consultancy heavyweight Logica, where he served as chief client officer. Prior to this, he served as executive vice president of global sales and services at Sun Microsystems. Earlier in his career, Ryan spent more than a decade with IBM.

He has been given the task of driving HP's "aggressive growth plan" for its ESSN division. Ryan, who will be based in the UK, will work closely alongside Johan Deschuyffeleer, EMEA senior vice president of HP's Technology Services unit.

He replaces Frédéric Dussart, who assumed the role of EMEA ESSN boss in February, but left HP last month.
