Recruitment firm cautions blasé VARs

Resellers urged to shore up their reputations as employers

After helping Computer 2000 reduce its staff turnover by two-fifths, Channel Recruitment Solutions (CRS) has urged resellers to take their re­putations as employers much more seriously.

Gary Janes, director of CRS, claimed that channel firms need to consider their employer branding and ensure they are seen as an appealing company to work for, on top of implementing better recruitment policies.

He singled out notable exceptions, including Soft­cat and ACS Office Solu­tions, but asserted that resellers in particular should sharpen up.

"Many candidates think employers do not really want them; they want their book of accounts. It is all about messaging," said Janes. "Recruitment is part of what we do, but we also help people become a more attractive proposition to candidates."

CRS has been working with C2000 for two years and now manages all recruitment activity for the distribution giant. Accor­ding to a testimonial from the distributor, tightened recruitment procedures, alongside other factors, have allowed it to cut its staff attrition rate by two-fifths since 2009.
