Magirus takes VMware online

Distributor claims to be first to offer online training to European partners

Magirus claims it has stolen a march on its distribution rivals by being first to offer online training for the VMware Certified Professional (VCP) badge.

The qualification applies to reseller and end-user technical staff and Magirus claims more than 5,000 people a year take its classroom-based VMware courses. After a pilot scheme in Italy, the distributor is rolling out online training in English, GerĀman, Portuguese, Dutch and Spanish.

Kevin Collins, solutions development manager at Magirus, indicated his firm is the first to bring online training to the European market.

"This gives us a huge amount of flexibility to offer training to countries where we might not have been able to get the dates before," he added.

The move will also save students and their employers time and money, asserĀted Collins.

"People cannot afford to give up five or six days and potentially travel long distances," he added.

"Students require more and more flexibility and they do not need to see the equipment any more - everybody knows what a server looks like."
