RES eyes desktop refresh channel opportunity

Workspace management vendor unveils desktop analyser tool

Workspace management vendor RES Software is offering partners the chance to white-label its new cloud-based Baseline Desktop Analyzer (BDA) tool.

The free-to-use product provides organisations with real-time data about the desktop applications and hardware employees are using.

RES claims collecting this data will make it easier for companies to embark on desktop refreshes.

Speaking to ChannelWeb, Jeff Fisher, vice president of business development at RES, said that despite BDA being free to use, its partners can charge for the product.

"The solution is completely brandable, and we fully expect partners to create their own branded version of it and provide that as a value-add for their customers," he said.

In turn, this should help build awareness of the RES brand, added Fisher, as partners will then be able to tie up BDA with other parts of the vendor's product portfolio.

For instance, the data collected by BDA can be fed into the vendor's Workspace Manager product. This allows organisations to centrally manage their physical and virtual desktop environments so that users have the same personal desktop settings wherever they log in.

"We are 100 per cent channel, so everything we do starts and ends with our partners, and the main way for us to build awareness of what we do is through them," said Fisher. "We are just about there in the Netherlands, but are still in the building [awareness] phase in the UK."
