TSG makes second acquisition of 2011

Newcastle-upon-Tyne-based reseller buys SharePoint consultancy Rocket Solutions

Acquisitive reseller TSG has made its second purchase of 2011 by snapping up SharePoint consultancy Rocket Solutions for an undisclosed sum.

Rocket – which, like TSG, has its headquarters in Newcastle-upon-Tyne – was founded in 2008 and has customers across the North-east.

Launched in 2003 by Sage co-founder Graham Wylie, TSG has grown to become a £45m reseller with 15 offices, 500 staff and top vendor badges from the likes of HP, Sage, Pegasus, Microsoft and Sophos. In April it acquired Microsoft Dynamics and Sage CRM specialist Concentrix.

Talking to ChannelWeb, TSG's chief technology officer Steve Cox said the Rocket acquisition was about expanding the firm's collaboration and business intelligence skills.

"This enables us to deliver more SharePoint projects across the UK," he explained.

Following a near hiatus between 2007 and 2009, TSG has made three acquisitions in the past 18 months (Croft being the third, in February 2010) bringing its grand total to 25 over eight years.

Cox said: "We are continually on the lookout for businesses that align with what we are trying to achieve."

In separate news, TSG announced that it has enlisted a new group marketing and communications director in the shape of former Entrepreneurs' Forum chief executive Carole Beverley.
