Buffalo leads new herd of devices through channel

Storage vendor introduces new SMB-focused NAS products

Storage vendor Buffalo has reinforced its commitment to the SMB market through the rollout of a new TeraStation family of network attached storage (NAS) products.

The latest additions to the TereStation range include a series of two, four, six and eight-bay appliances that are powered by Intel's Atom D510 Dual-Core Processor technology.

The eight-bay product can accommodate up to 24TB of data, which Buffalo claims is three times higher than the maximum storage capacity offered by the previous range of TeraStation products.

Paul Hudson, sales director for northern Europe at Buffalo, confirmed that the firm's three UK distributors Ingram Micro, Micro Peripherals and Computer 2000 took delivery of the new products this week.

"The new range represents a huge step up in terms of capacity and performance for TeraStation, but not price," said Hudson. "This is great for SMBs who are under pressure to keep costs low while having to deal with growing amounts of data."

The firm has also announced the launch of a new TeraStation Windows Storage Server. This is another SMB-focused, NAS-based product, which Buffalo is considering courting the Microsoft channel to sell.

"The hardware is validated, and easy to get customers set up on," added Hudson. "For Microsoft partners that do not have experience of working with Buffalo, it is not a difficult technology with which to get to grips."
