Centrix hops aboard the Windows 7 bandwagon

Application monitoring specialist plans to double UK partner numbers in response to demand for desktop refresh projects

Application monitoring specialist Centrix Software wants to capitalise on the ongoing demand for Windows 7 deployments by doubling the size of its UK partner base.

The firm claims to have 22 partners in the UK, but wants to add 20 more over the next nine months. It has also released an updated version of its flagship Workspace product suite to support its plans.

The suite provides IT departments with data about end users' software usage patterns, allowing them to track the number of licences needed and pinpoint applications that should be retained during desktop transformations.

In the past, Centrix said the product has proven particularly popular with Citrix and VMware partners that use it during desktop virtualisation projects.

However, with the continued demand for Windows 7 deployments, the firm said it is now focusing its attention on scouring the Microsoft channel for new partners.

Speaking to Channelweb, Lewis Gee, vice president of worldwide sales at Centrix, explained: "When companies embark on the move away from Windows XP, it gives them the opportunity to choose between doing a like-for-like desktop replacement or going down the virtualisation route.

"What partners are finding is that using our software allows companies to rationalise their software assets, which saves them money that can then be used to fund these projects."

Centrix is also making good on its earlier pledge to build its profile in the rest of Europe and the US, added Gee.

"We are definitely in growth mode, with new partners coming on board in the Netherlands, Germany and Russia," he said.

"We have also increased the size of our product development and go-to-market teams, and that is something we will continue to do as the business and our partner numbers grow."
