Avnet to light up Solarflare channel
Distributor signs EMEA deal for vendor's 10Gb Ethernet server adapters
Avnet has struck an EMEA-wide distribution deal with 10Gb Ethernet vendor Solarflare.
The vendor manufactures 10GbE server adapters designed to speed up input/output processes within enterprise and mid-market IT environments.
Bruce Hockin, head of business strategy at Avnet, said the product will open up opportunities for its partners in several vertical markets.
"Solarflare's solutions will help our partners target new networking and server sales opportunities in high-performance computing environments, such as the financial, scientific and pharmaceutical markets," he said.
"Resellers will also be able to help existing customers optimise the performance of their datacentres to meet [the needs] of cloud computing, storage and virtualisation."
Julie Reininger, storage networking product business manager at Avnet, added: "Our business partners can now position Solarflare's solutions along with complementary hardware and software products from Avnet's supply partners, such as Brocade, Force10 Networks and Juniper Networks."
Meanwhile, Peter Jones, director of worldwide channel sales at Solarflare, said the firm will lean on Avnet to ramp up its channel presence.
"Avnet will help Solarflare rapidly expand our market leadership by equipping channel partners with complete solutions that solve the performance pain points of their customers' datacentres," he said.
