Former Novell exec Veitkus to lead EMEA sales at Progress

Business software vendor appoints Dan Veitkus to oversee its EMEA channel business

Progress Software has poached former Novell executive Dan Veitkus to head up its EMEA sales channels.

In his new role as vice president and general manager of EMEA at Progress, Veitkus will be responsible for managing the business software vendor's reseller and direct sales channels, as well as its professional services business.

Before joining Progress, he held the role of EMEA vice president of channels and alliances at infrastructure software vendor Novell, and also headed up several of its global divisions during his tenure.

Chris Larsen, executive vice president of global field operations at Progress, said the firm will be leaning on its new recruit to grow its market share.

"Progress has established a large base of customers and partners in Europe for more than 25 years," said Larsen. "With the addition of Dan, Progress is well-positioned for increased market share as an enterprise software partner of choice, enabling our customers to be more operationally responsive."

Veitkus added: "The company's solutions underpin a broad array of Europe's largest companies [and] it will remain our top priority to deliver outstanding solutions, software and support to our stakeholders and extend our brand in the region."
