Computacenter praises departing storage lead Yeager
Following news of his resignation, VAR hails storage and data lead Matthew Yeager
VAR Computacenter has hailed the work of storage boss Matthew Yeager, following the announcement of his resignation earlier today.
Yeager, who joined the Hatfield-based firm as data and storage practice leader in 2008, used the micro-blogging site Twitter to announce his resignation from Computacenter this morning.
In a series of tweets to his 596 followers, Yeager said it was a "difficult decision", but that it was "time to move on to a great career opportunity." But he stopped short of revealing where he is off to.
He added: "I am intensely proud of what we accomplished in the past four years, and for the amazing opportunity to have been part of the CC family."
Speaking to ChannelWeb, Neill Burton, datacentre solutions director at Computacenter, praised the role Yeager has played in shaping and building the firm's storage business.
"Matt's a great guy and helped me get storage on to the agenda for our sales force," said Burton. "He has been a key member of a team that has helped us get this part of the business [storage] from zero to 20mph. Now it is time for us to accelerate to 50mph."
Burton revealed he already has someone lined up from outside the company to take over Yeager's role, who will oversee the company's ongoing push on storage optimisation.
"We are a big company," added Burton. "His role [Yeager] has been extremely impactful, but he is not irreplaceable."
