Bytes snaps up Security Partnerships

Microsoft LAR says latest deal is the first of many buyouts it is plotting

Bytes Technology Group has rejoined the acquisition trail after a lengthy period away to snap up Checkpoint VAR Security Partnerships for an undisclosed sum.

The Microsoft LAR told ChannelWeb back in 2009 that it planned to embark on some more acquisitions, after posting a 17 per cent year-on-year rise in turnover.

In a statement, Bytes said the deal will add weight to its existing security business, allowing it to add implementation and support offerings to its services portfolio.

It also stated that further acquisitions will follow in due course.

Neil Murphy (pictured), group managing director at Bytes Technology Group, said security is an ongoing cause of concern for customers.

"What particularly attracted us to Security Partnerships were the long-standing customer relationships and the emphasis on knowledge and customer service within the business," said Murphy.

"It is a very focused operation with a proven track record of profitable growth and a strong, young and dynamic workforce," he added.
