Softcat adds 20 public sector heads

Reseller triples size of Mancunian office after recruitment spree

VAR Softcat is ramping up its investment in the public sector and moving to a Manchester office three times the size of its previous city digs to accommodate 20 new staff.

The Marlow-based reseller claims it more than doubled its public sector revenue in its recently completed fiscal year. Among the new recruits (pictured) are a senior framework manager, two dedicated partnership managers and a smattering of healthcare-specialised recruits.

The new employees will work under the tutelage of public sector sales bosses Anthony Cowen and Jamie Burke, and Softcat claims that a number of promising graduates have been brought in alongside experienced vertical experts.

"I am very encouraged by our progress since April," said Cowen. "It is remarkable to think that it was just over two years ago that Softcat set up its first office in Manchester, and it was only 12 months ago that we successfully gained access to the Buying Solutions framework. Our new Manchester office, combined with our focus on the public sector, gives us the opportunity to significantly increase our headcount in the next 12 months."

Burke added: "At a time when the government is encouraging the public sector to work with more SMEs, we have had very positive feedback from clients and partners supporting our investment in the UK public sector."
