Ex-Riverbed boss bounces back with storage start-up

Marcus Chambers to spearhead US-based Tintri's expansion into EMEA and Asia-Pacific

Former Riverbed EMEA boss Marcus Chambers has bounced back into the channel with a start-up VM-aware storage appliance vendor.

Chambers (pictured), who left Riverbed in May, has the task of spearheading US-based Tintri's expansion into EMEA and Asia-Pacific.

Tintri closed $18m (£10.8m) in Series C funding in June and Chambers claimed the European market represents a "tremendous opportunity" for the firm.

"It has been impressive to see the inordinate amount of attention Tintri has received since its March launch," Chambers said. "It is indicative of the market's readiness for a VM-aware storage appliance."

The vendor has already hired five EMEA staff and unveiled a partnership with pan-European distributor Zycko.

Tintri chief executive Kieran Harty said: "While it was important for us to initially focus on fostering regional and national growth, we now see the potential to expand our operations to the EMEA and APAC markets.

"Marcus Chambers has a proven track record in EMEA and we believe that both he and the Zycko team will be an integral part of our growth there and beyond."

David Galton-Fenzi, Zycko group sales and marketing director, said: "The storage market is undergoing a radical transformation and Tintri has positioned itself at the vanguard of next-generation solutions.

"There is a growing demand for VM-aware storage and Tintri has the potential to make both an immediate and lasting impact in the European market."
