European Electronique bags Middlesex NHS contract

Deal sees reseller implement wireless system to strengthen security and efficiency

European Electronique has completed a deal to boost security and system processes in Ashford and St Peter’s NHS Foundation Trust hospitals in Middlesex.

The public sector-focused reseller began deploying multiple sites across both hospitals with vendor partner Xirrus in spring 2010 and the final implementation was completed in June 2011.

The value of the contract has not been disclosed. Earlier NHS trials have revealed that the use of wireless technology will create a 25 per cent increase in productivity and a 32 per cent reduction in travel times, with 96 per cent completion of patient and clinical record updates on the day, compared with the usual 48-hour manual transcript time.

European Electronique claims it will also offer secure patient internet access, access to patient records, pharmacy orders and discharge letters from patient bedsides, and more effective tracking of expensive hospital equipment, as a result of the deal.
