HP to make more TouchPads in Q4
Vendor's social media strategist reveals in a blog that a limited number will be made to fulfil overwhelming demand
HP has revealed it is to make a ‘limited number’ of TouchPads in the fourth quarter of 2011 to keep up with the phenomenal demand.
The vendor’s social media strategist, Mark Budgell, revealed the news on his blog.
“Despite announcing an end of manufacturing webOS hardware, we have decided to produce one last run of TouchPads to meet unfulfilled demand. We don’t know exactly when these units will be available, or how many we’ll get, and we can’t promise we’ll have enough for everyone,” he said.
He also revealed that if more inventory is made available in future there will be an order limit to stop people from bulk buying and selling them for a profit.
TouchPads flew off the shelves last month when various retailers across the UK slashed the price from its peak of £350 in the UK to just £89 for the 16GB and £115 for the 32GB versions.
