Insight wants to be top of Apple's tree

Reseller says launch of Insight Apple Solutions will make it top choice for vendor's products in enterprise space

Corporate reseller Insight UK has launched a range of Apple services designed to transform it into the vendor's top supplier in the enterprise space.

Launched today, Insight Apple Solutions is a suite of services aimed at organisations looking to manage and support the use of Apple iPads, iPhones and other iOS devices.

Emma de Sousa, regional vice president, UK and Northern Europe at Insight, said Apple's meteoric rise in the enterprise space had prompted the reseller to throw its full weight behind the vendor.

"By forming this dedicated team, we aim to be the number-one choice for Apple products and services in the enterprise IT market," she said.

The first batch of Insight Apple Solutions includes Insight Network Ready, Insight Configuration Management, Insight Virtual Desktop and Applications and Insight Bespoke Apps.

Apple, once seen as a niche player – with a niche channel – has recently broken into the top-five PC vendors in the UK, while shipments of its iPad tablet are predicted to breach 44 million globally in 2011.

Insight is not the first mainstream channel player to build a dedicated Apple offering in recent months, with distributors VIP and C2000 both launching Apple units.

De Sousa said the use of Apple technologies among businesses was too widespread to ignore.

"As iPhones and latterly iPads have been taken up within businesses, the IT teams for these organisations have to provide the right levels of support for these devices, as well as making sure that company security policies are followed," she said.

Insight's Apple services will draw on technology from other vendors including Cisco, Citrix, VMware, Microsoft and Absolute Software.
