Softek marks out New Boundary
Distributor signs up to carry vendor's PwrSmart PC energy management offering
Distributor Softek has unveiled PC energy management specialist New Boundary Technologies as its latest vendor signing.
Softek will carry New Boundary's PwrSmart cloud-based service, which it claims can yield a typical 500-PC firm annual savings of between £22 and £50 per PC.
The cloud-based technology is designed to instantly measure and cut PC energy usage, energy costs and CO2 emissions to meet carbon footprint reduction and ECO sustainability targets.
Mike Bienvenu, technical director of Softek, said the service had allowed the distributor to get its own house in order.
"When we first tried the PwrSmart service we were astonished at how much energy we were wasting, and the potential savings that could be made," he said.
Bienvenu said it is becoming tougher for government departments and other organisations to find places to cheaply make savings to meet ECO sustainability targets.
"PwrSmart provides a quick, measurable return," he added. "For example, a typical 500-PC organisation will save between £22 and £50 annually per PC in energy costs and prevent 895 tons of excess CO2 being emitted over three years – that is the equivalent to planting 175 acres of trees or removing 150 cars from the roads."
