Scala chief Bucas to step down
Partners told veteran chief executive will be replaced by US sales head
Scala chief executive Gerard Bucas announced this morning at the vendor's partner conference in Amsterdam that he will step down on 31 October.
The chief executive reins will be handed over to current Scala US sales head Tom Nix.
"It is the end of an era. After nine-plus years at the helm, as head of Scala, it is time for new ideas," Bucas said.
"In my time, I think we have built the greatest digital signage team in the world. Over the years we have created a significantly wider global presence and global footprint."
Bucas has spent nine-and-a-half years at Scala. He said the company had been accused by customers of being arrogant and perhaps less responsive than it could have been over the years.
However, it was moving to address that – not least at the current Scala conference in Noordwijk, near Amsterdam, Holland – and he hoped the company's increasingly strong performance was some justification.
"In the year to date, sales growth from January to August is 30 per cent above the figure at the same time last year," said Bucas.
