Big boys set for Welsh framework snub

ChannelWeb can reveal firms in line for slice of huge hardware deal, with a number of big names nowhere to be seen

Suppliers have been chosen for the new incarnation of the multimillion pound Value Wales IT framework with a host of familiar names missing out, ChannelWeb understands.

The framework has been trimmed down into two lots – down from the four that were specified in the original tender. Focusing on systems hardware, ChannelWeb believes players set to make the grade on lot one include Viglen, Stone, Computerworld Wales, Insight, Computacenter, Gaia Technologies, XMA and Softcat.

The second lot is tipped more towards print technologies and ChannelWeb understands Gaia, Computacenter and Computerworld are likely to be included again, with Kelway, DTP Group and Misco also expected to make the grade.

No vendors feature on either lot and a host of big-name VARs are also conspicuous by their absence. The framework, which will be in effect for up to four years, could be worth a cumulative nine-figure sum to the eleven suppliers to make the grade.

ChannelWeb is awaiting response from Value Wales.
