Vision clears cloud programme for more partners

Software vendor wants hosters, telcos and VARs to sign up for its cloud-based disaster recovery programme

Vision Solutions is opening up its Cloud Protection and Recovery Programme (CPR) to a wider range of channel partners to tap into the change in demand for online services.

The CPR programme is aimed at channel firms that want to offer their customers the option of replicating their business-critical applications and data in the cloud.

The firm signed Softcat as a Service Provider Licensing Agreement (SPLA) partner in April, and teamed up with hosted infrastructure-as-a-service player Rise last December.

Citing the success it has had with both these partnerships, the firm is now looking for more partners, including telcos and other hosters, to take its cloud-based business continuity offerings to market.

Speaking to ChannelWeb, Ian Masters, sales director of UK and Ireland at software vendor Vision Solutions, said: "We signed Softcat as an SPLA distributor and did not have any expectations about what we wanted to achieve with that, but they have done a great job of engaging the channel with our products.

"We are talking to about 20 hosting providers at the moment, but Rise is the only one we have signed. We have also had a lot of interest from some of the telcos, as many of them already do some form of hosting."

The firm claims that more than 70 organisations across the UK are using its products to protect their data in the cloud, including a growing number of enterprises.

"A lot of people associate Double-Take with being an SMB play and a few years ago a lot of our business came from there," he said. "We are doing slightly less business with SMBs, but the growing interest we are receiving from the enterprise is making up for that."
