Centrix Software gets Windows 7 Jumpstart

Application monitoring vendor is welcomed onto software giant's Windows 7 proof-of-concept programme

Centrix Software's latest partner recruitment drive has received a boost from Microsoft, after the software giant invited it to join the UK version of its Jumpstart Programme.

The proof-of-concept initiative is designed to speed up Windows 7 migrations by allowing end users to evaluate the impact an operating system upgrade would have on their business.

Being part of the Jumpstart programme means Centrix's products, which allow businesses to pinpoint applications that should be retained during desktop transformations, are endorsed by Microsoft for use during Windows 7 migrations.

The firm told ChannelWeb back in July that it was on the hunt for Microsoft partners to help it capitalise on the growing demand for Windows upgrades.

Centrix also announced yesterday that it has entered into a technology alliance with user virtualisation vendor AppSense to speed up Windows 7, VDI and other desktop transformation projects.

Lewis Gee, vice president of sales and marketing at Centrix, told ChannelWeb that winning the backing of both Microsoft and AppSense would help build its profile overseas.

"We are a small company and nowhere near as visible as AppSense or Microsoft, and these alliances should increase the level of exposure we receive," explained Gee.

Centrix will seize on its newly formed partnerships with both vendors to recruit new partners, particularly Microsoft VARs with desktop competencies and AppSense ones with which it does not already deal.

"I think we could easily end up doubling the size of our partner network [by doing this] over the course of the next six months, which would mean adding another 25 partners in the UK," said Gee.

On top of this, the firm has recently added two recruits to its UK team: former MicroFocus manager Richard Pegden, who is now director of product marketing at Centrix; and Angus Adigun, who left VMware to take on the role of senior systems engineer.
