Former LeftHand big hitter rocks up at Drobo
Ex-HP exec takes on role as data storage vendor's EMEA sales chief
Data storage vendor Drobo has appointed Marcus Thompson as senior director of EMEA sales.
Thompson has been give the task of expanding Drobo's European SMB channel and driving sales of its business storage solutions across the region.
Thompson was the first European employee at LeftHand Networks, where Drobo says he built up the business to more than 300 customers and 50 partners in three years. He was also business development manager at HP following LeftHand's acquisition by the hardware giant, and brings more than 20 years of channel and OEM sales experience with him.
Tom Buiocchi, chief executive at Drobo, said: "Marcus joins at a pivotal time for Drobo. The business is evolving fast, and we are taking our ‘small box, big storage' strategy aggressively into the SMB space. Marcus brings a track record of building the kind of channel we need to address a high-growth opportunity in Europe."
