Huawei Symantec signs exclusive deal with Stone

System builder picked as joint venture's sole partner for UK education space

System builder Stone has been picked to exclusively supply Huawei Symantec's storage and security wares to the UK education market.

Huawei Symantec, a joint venture between the Chinese network maker and the US security specialist, is hoping to increase its footprint in the UK public sector. Jon Reeves-Serby, director of channel sales and alliances at Huawei Symantec, claimed Stone's 20 years of experience in the UK public sector made it an ideal choice of partner.

"We found a real meeting of minds between Huawei Symantec and Stone," he added. "We share the same outlook on how we plan to increase our respective customer bases."

Staffordshire-based Stone will offer its customers the complete range of Huawei Symantec products, from entry-level offerings up to those designed for high-performance computing-based enterprise environments. Technologies on offer include SAN and NAS.

"Huawei Symantec products are priced competitively, of high quality and offer excellent performance and reliability. Our customers will benefit from data storage technology that is around 40 percent more cost-effective on a like-for-like basis, compared to other vendors in this space."
