Two held over smash-and-grab raid on Apple Store

Vendor's Covent Garden store attacked and robbed by biker gang, police confirm

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of burglary following a smash-and-grab raid on Apple's Covent Garden store in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called at 1am today after a window was smashed at the store, resulting in an unknown quantity of stock being taken.

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said about seven moped riders are thought to have taken part in the raid, and that each bike may have been carrying a second passenger.

So far, police have arrested a 16-year-old boy and a 21-year-old man, who were found nearby with Apple kit in their possession, in connection with the raid.

Nathan Tozer, detective sergeant of Westminster CID, said: "Although two men are in custody on suspicion of burglary, the inquiry continues and other persons are sought.

"It is essential that anyone who saw the smash and grab, or the suspects making off, contact us as soon as possible," he continued.

Meanwhile, in happier news, Apple Premium Reseller Albion Computers has announced plans to open an eighth retail outlet later this month in Northampton.

The newest addition to Albion's family of iStores will open on 22 October and is set to stock the full range of Apple products, while also offering a repair service.

Albion specialises in providing Apple products and related services to business and education users, as well as high street consumers.

In a statement, an Albion representative said: "iStores offer a convenient means for our customers to seek advice and browse Apple products [and] we invite anyone interested in finding out more about which Apple product is best for their requirements to drop in."
