Concall provider Powwownow adds Vidyo video
Free conference and web call services augmented with video conferencing partnership
Surrey-based comms vendor Via-Vox, trading as Powwownow, is rolling out a video conferencing service based on a partnership with telepresence vendor Vidyo.
The new "premium" service will use VidyoDesktop and VidyoMobile to serve customers using smartphones, tablets, PCs, room systems or immersive telepresence systems, according to the vendor.
Andy Pearce, chief executive officer of Powwownow, said it wanted to add video conferencing to its audio and web services, but using a product that offers similar quality, ease of use and price.
"We are able to provide our customers with a powerful, business-grade video conferencing service that also allows access to video meetings with enterprise room systems and desktops via the smartphones and tablets they want to use," said Pearce. "No other solution comes close to what Vidyo offers."
Powwownow has been known as a provider of free audio and web conference call functionality and boasts 100,000 customers in 79 countries.
According to Vidyo, its service is "highly reliable and scalable", delivering multipoint video conferencing via H.264-standard compression over the public internet.
