Quest buys ChangeBASE to speed up Windows 7 projects

Acquisitive vendor adds application compatibility software specialist to its stable

Quest Software has hit the acquisition trail once again, snapping up UK-based software vendor ChangeBASE.

The firm's new purchase specialises in software that allows end users to run legacy applications on newer versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system and Internet Explorer web browser.

The deal is the latest in a long line of buyouts by Quest, which has acquired more than 20 firms in the past decade.

In a statement on its website, Quest said it plans to use ChangeBASE's technology to speed up Windows 7 migration projects and drive sales of its VDI-enabling vWorkspace product.

Shayne Higdon, senior vice president and general manager of client management and performance monitoring at Quest, said: "By marrying our portfolio with ChangeBASE's ability to address some of the most pressing issues around application compatibility, Quest becomes a provider that uniquely delivers fast application migration to new platforms, devices and delivery methods."
