Tablet craze bolsters Think4's bottom line

Growing VAR set up a specialist mobile division two years ago and its foresight is paying dividends

Ambitious VAR Think4 is hailing the rise of the tablet PC as a factor in its double-digit turnover growth.

In the five years since its inception the Heywood-based company’s turnover is set to hit £3.5m, with an 18 per cent growth in sales for 2011. The firm, which is also looking to recruit, launched a specialist mobile computing arm in 2009 and has carved a niche for itself in the iPad market.

As a result, the firm is planning to open a London office and is looking at further acquisitions to fuel growth. It currently employs 20 people but plans to take on a further two staff – one sales member and one engineer.

Robert Gibbons, managing director of Think4, said: “It has been another very encouraging year for the business, and we are delighted with the growth figures. We moved into the tablet market at a very early stage in its development.

“Think4Mobile has already made massive strides and is already making a real contribution to the business,” he added. “At the same time our core business of providing IT support and service to the SME sector has also performed really well, despite the tough economic conditions.”

He said the firm has won several new deals in 2011, including a number of blue chip hotels, and has reported 20 per cent-plus growth for the past three years.

“Looking to the future we believe we can continue to win new business, and with that in mind we are looking to develop a presence in London,” he added. “The key to making that work will be finding the right people and we are currently recruiting once again.”
