Hammer nails Certeon distribution deal

Basingstoke-based firm secures Europe-wide contract with WAN optimisation player

Storage distributor Hammer has added WAN optimisation vendor Certeon to its product portfolio.

Basingstoke-based Hammer has signed a Europe-wide deal with the vendor, and has rolled out a series of sales and training initiatives to help VARs get to grips with its products.

For example, Hammer is offering partners access to free 30-day trials of Certeon's flagship aCelera software suite, which aims to speed up application response times by lowering network bandwidth requirements.

The firm is also planning to hold two webinars later this month to educate partners on how to position the products, and has introduced a try before you buy-type scheme for prospective customers.

Jason Beeson, solutions director at Hammer, said Certeon's offerings fit in well with its existing NetApp, Dot Hill and Dell storage lines.

"We look forward to bringing the aCelera range to market and providing resellers with an important new solution for their customers who have network efficiency challenges," he added.

Peter Dougherty, chief executive of Certeon, added: "When Hammer's resellers approach a prospective customer and explain the performance and scalability [aCelera] offers, they should achieve a higher success rate on that sale."
