C2000 completes boardroom line-up

Distribution giant adds Jim Michel as Brightstar Europe managing director

Computer 2000 (C2000) has completed its boardroom line-up with the addition of Jim Michel as managing director UK and Ireland for Brightstar Europe.

Michel has 15 years of mobile market experience, joining the firm from LG electronics where he was head of the mobile division. He also worked as UK and Ireland vice president for Motorola and has held roles at Vodafone and T-Mobile.

Under his leadership Brightstar has ambitious plans to become the number one distributor in the UK for smartphones and data services.

Michel said: “I am looking forward to taking Brightstar to the next stage of its development in the UK and Ireland, and also to working with the Computer 2000 management board to help the group move towards its strategic objectives.”

He joins a significant line-up of board members including Colin McGregor, who joined as Azlan UK director in September, and Peter Hubbard who joined as sales director in June. Also part of the board are commercial director David Watts, marketing director Andy Dow and managing director Andy Gass.

Completing the board are HR director Debbie Ryan, operations director Steve Philp, logistics director Nick Clifton and financial director Phil James.

In a statement, Gass said: “With the great depth of knowledge and experience we now have on the management board, we are ready to launch the next phase of our business development strategy. At the start of this year we set our sights on achieving significant growth by investing and driving our Collection of Specialists strategy and by leveraging our unique multi-model approach to the market.

“This is already delivering positive results and with the quality and commercial insight we now have on our board of directors, we are confident that we can continue setting the pace in the distribution sector – both in terms of delivering the best levels of service and driving growth for our reseller customers and vendor partners,” he added.
