Millgate revenues set to top £20m

Sheffield-based reseller on a growth spurt

Sheffield-based reseller Millgate Computer Systems claims it is bucking the economic downturn as its revenues accelerate towards the £20m mark.

The HP, Dell and Microsoft partner saw turnover spike 32 per cent to £18.5m in its fiscal 2011 and is expecting turnover to hit £23m next year. Its pre-tax profit also doubled to £727,000 for the year to 31 July.

Twelve months ago, Millgate launched a mobile telecoms division specialising in Orange, O2, Vodafone and Three.

Sales director Chris Headon said the division has already generated £100,000 of profit. "That market has quite a bad reputation so the fact we already have those relationships on the IT side really helps from a trust point of view," he said.

Millgate, which has 25 sales staff, specialises in IT hardware and software supply, as well as offering maintenance and cabling installation services. It plans to open its first office outside of Yorkshire in 2012.

Headon said: "The working conditions we provide here are second to none. The sales guys have a lot of autonomy – we give them what they require to turn things around quickly. We are not an e-commerce company, but deal with the customer face to face."
