Micro-P ups Dell delivery ante

Distributor launches next-day delivery service on config-to-spec PowerEdge servers

Micro-P is claiming a Dell server range first by launching a next-day delivery service to help resellers grab a larger share of the SME market.

The initiative allows resellers to use existing distribution credit facilities and include Dell config-to-spec server solutions within their quotations, which the distributor claims helps to increase revenue streams and will give resellers direct access to the Dell PowerEdge range.

Micro-P said it will stock a range of PowerEdge server base units; and additional upgrades such as processors, RAM, hard drives, HBAs and warranties will also be included in the config-to-spec initiative.

In addition Micro-P's solutions team will be on standby to offer advice on a range of topics, including single-server installations to multiple virtualised nodes with shared storage including software, UPS and back up.

Gareth Bray, business manager at Micro-P, said: "We are very excited to bring this service offering to the UK channel. As an existing broadline distributor of Dell within the PC and print markets, we are delighted to bring the Dell server brand into our portfolio.

"We have over 20 years' networking experience and a strong foothold within the SMB arena. Our pedigree will ensure Dell continues to grow its penetration in this market."

Paul Bryan, sales director at Micro-P, added: "Micro-P is constantly looking at new and diverse ways to help resellers grow their business and be more competitive. Currently, 15 per cent of the market buys on next-day convenience. It was imperative to be able to respond to such market demands and become the first distributor to offer a next-day delivery on bespoke Dell server solutions."

Kathy Schneider, executive director of channel programmes, Europe, at Dell, said: "With the launch of this initiative we aim to offer Micro-P's network of resellers access to even greater choice in terms of how and where they buy Dell servers. We are extremely excited at the potential benefits this partnership will bring to resellers and end-user organisations."
