Corel offers VARs a school sweetener
Vendor's latest licensing scheme lifts restrictions and simplifies the use of its graphics software for schools, colleges and universities
Corel has launched a new academic site licence that it claims will help education-focused resellers grow sales of its graphics software.
The Canadian software vendor’s Corel Academic Site Licence (CASL) dispenses with restrictions on the number of computers and usage reporting to make it easier for education establishments to use its graphics, multimedia and utility titles.
Licences are available in one- or three-year subscriptions and give schools unrestricted access including Draw, PaintShop Pro, VideoStudio, Painter PDF Fusion and WinZip. Secondary schools, further and higher education colleges and universities have the option to include Designer and Cad titles.
Brett Denly, vice president of EMEA sales and marketing at Corel, said: “Graphics and multimedia are vital career skills for today’s pupils and students, but many software vendors place unrealistic restrictions on the use of software across schools and campuses and insist on software usage reporting that is difficult and time consuming for IT administrators.
“Our new site licence offers our academic customers the widest range of graphics, multimedia and utility software in the industry in a license programme that is easy to understand, deploy and administer. It also offers incredible value.”
Jeffrey Pugh, managing director of Pugh Computers, said: “Here at Pugh we are always looking for products and services that offer our customers real value for money and the new Corel Academic Site Licence is just that: a genuine value proposition that will make it easier and more affordable for all levels of education to access graphics and multimedia products.”
