GlassHouse founder Shirman replaced as CEO

Storage and cloud integrator names Patrick Scannell as new boss, as founder and long-serving chief moves on

Storage and cloud integrator GlassHouse Technologies has announced that long-standing chief executive Mark Shirman is stepping down, with board member Patrick Scannell moving into the hotseat.

Shirman had led GlassHouse since founding the company in 2001 and new boss Scannell said he "would like to thank Mark for his countless contributions to the company".

The incoming CEO worked at data warehousing specialist Netezza until May 2011, where he served as chief financial officer. He also holds directorships at several firms, including Kiva Systems and Xtalic Corporation, and has sat on the board at Glasshouse since 2007.

Scannell has now been tasked with driving the VAR's growth through greater sales of cloud, virtualisation, security and next-generation datacentre services. GlassHouse turned over almost $100m in its 2010 fiscal year, according to news site Inc. UK accounts reveal its revenue in this country during 2010 stood at £13.7m.

"GlassHouse has built an impeccable track record over the past decade working with clients to address their growing data requirements, and is now in the envious position of having this experience and our core services emerge as fundamental elements of the rapidly developing and complex cloud marketplace," added Scannell.

"Our customers rely on GlassHouse for its vendor-independent objective expertise, and now more than ever companies need this clarity amidst the market fervor for cloud direction and strategy."
