Centerprise toasts Becrypt sales spike
Information assurance a growing focus for PC builder
PC builder Centerprise is throwing its full weight behind encryption vendor Becrypt as it steps up its activities in the information assurance (IA) market.
Becrypt is the only vendor to offer software encryption approved for use with data up to "Impact Level 6", making its solutions popular among defence customers.
Centerprise is a major defence supplier, holding one of only three spots in the Defence Equipment and Support's Information Communications Services (ICS) catalogue - thought to be worth £55m annually.
Phil Boyes, defence business manager at Centerprise, told ChannelWeb his firm had recently stepped up its partnership with Becrypt to encompass its entire customer base. The reseller's Becrypt sales over the past six months are up 250 per cent year on year, he added.
Becrypt products covered by the partnership include DISK Protect, DISK Protect Baseline and DISK Protect Enhanced, as well as its access control and remote access products.
Boyes said: "We have all heard the reports of data losses at government bodies where laptops are left in taxis and data gets in the wrong hands. Becrypt not only provides protection of data at rest but also access controls that prevent accidental removal of unencrypted data."
He indicated that IA and related consultancy services are a growing focus for Centerprise.
"Centerprise is still a PC manufacturer and we are able to provide clients with the necessary security lockdowns and encryption," he said.
Boyes added that the current ICS catalogue, whose suppliers are Centerprise, SBL and Akhter, will run for at least another year.
