Sage launches CRM tempter

Vendor aims to unlock deals for partners with 30-day trial for Sales Logix

Sage is aiming to unlock new CRM sales for its channel with a 30-day try-before-you-buy scheme for Sales Logix.

Sitting above the vendor's Sage CRM and ACT offerings, Sales Logix is designed for mid-sizes to large enterprises that need a high level of customisation.

The trial, which will be delivered via the cloud, will see Sage work with the prospect to deploy fully customised features over the 30-day period.

Duncan Wood, CRM product manager at Sage, said: "Lots of customers want a test bed to work out what their CRM strategy is. With cloud you do not have to install anything – it is a quick and light way to experiment."

The lead could be generated by either Sage or a business partner. At the end of the trial, a decision will be made on whether to adopt the on-premise or cloud version of the product.

Sage hived off its CRM offerings into a dedicated unit in March 2010 but reversed the move at the beginning of this year.

Wood stressed that CRM was still strategically "incredibly important" to Sage.

"The internal reorganisation has helped us focus more on the channel," he said. "This programme is an indication of the focus we are giving Sales Logix as part of the enterprise division."
