McAfee reverts to distributor quartet with Softek signing

A year after trimming its distribution routes to market, security giant adds new partner

McAfee has gone back to having a quartet of UK distributors with the addition of Softek as partner for its cloud-based web and email security offerings.

Jersey-headquartered Softek will be taking stock of the Intel-owned vendor's cloud-based Email Protection Service and Web Protection Service products. These offerings include email and web security, as well as encryption, continuity and archiving technology.

McAfee went from four to three UK distribution partners last year when it trimmed Exclusive Networks from its line-up, following a seven-month distribution review. Arrow ECS, Ingram Micro and Computer 2000 remained in place.

New addition Softek will focus primarily on smaller partners. The distributor's sales director Shameem Ibrahim claimed the new vendor addition was a snug fit for his firm's business.

"McAfee security services fit perfectly with our current offerings and our business philosophy, which is to provide solutions that enhance customer productivity and profitability," he said. "McAfee is an ideal business partner for us. Its simple, smart cloud-based security services are highly effective and affordable – a perfect fit for our network of channel reseller partners and customer base."
