Webroot challenger appoints first UK distributor
Spamina can "fill the void" left by Webroot's rumoured exit from email security market, claims Securedis
Web and email security vendor Spamina is seeking to exploit any uncertainty in the Webroot channel after appointing its first UK distributor.
The Spain-based vendor has charged Securedis with building a UK reseller base for its cloud-based solutions.
Securedis managing director Andi Robinson said Spamina's portfolio breadth rivals that of Webroot, which is rumoured to be slashing its UK staff and pulling out of the email security market.
He suggested some Webroot partners may be looking to swap horses due to uncertainty over the firm's long-term strategy.
"Spamina is a one-stop shop for email and web security in the cloud. It offers web filtering, email firewall, email archiving and email encryption in the cloud on one interface.
"Webroot has done a good job of getting into that space quickly so it is a little surprising that it appears to be pulling out of its core competencies. But this leaves an opportunity for Spamina to fill the void," he said.
Spamina landed in the UK about a year ago but has called on Securedis to ramp up its channel.
"They realised they needed someone to help them on their way," said Robinson.
"Webroot is very good but is not particularly cheap and Spamina is positioned at a very competitive price," he added.
