BT bags £100m European Parliament deal
BT replaces Didata as network IT services provider to European Parliament's three sites in Brussels, Luxembourg and Strasbourg
BT has bagged two framework contracts worth a combined €120m (£100m) with the European Parliament.
The deal will see the UK carrier deliver a range of networked IT services to the institution's three main sites in Brussels, Luxembourg and Strasbourg.
According to CRN's sister publication Computing, the deal was divided into two frameworks – one focusing on network infrastructure (worth about £70m) and the other on applications, integration and professional services (£30m).
The contract was previously held by BT rival Dimension Data.
Luis Alvarez, president, EMEA and Latin America at BT Global Services, said: "I am extremely proud to announce these large government sector contracts. Our extensive portfolio of services and our professional services capabilities were instrumental in winning these deals."
BT already holds an inter-institutional contract with the EU for WAN services.
A representative for the European Parliament said: "BT put together a competitive and strong offering which really stood out. Its highly skilled integration experts and a vendor-agnostic approach should enable us to implement all communication infrastructures and services according to our Call for Tender specifications.
"This makes me confident that we have chosen the right partner, who will help our organisation to become more efficient and reduce costs."
